7 Natural Cures for Abdominal Gas and Bloating
Gas in the intestines can be very annoying; some people experience them frequently and more often than others. It’s also noted that intestinal gas and bloating are bigger issues in the Western world – where 15–30% of the general US population experiences bloating regularly and diets are relatively unhealthy and over-processed.
If gasses and bloating are mysteriously persistent, it is highly recommended to consult a doctor, to find out if there are any serious or underlying conditions that need addressing. However, in many cases a few lifestyle and diet changes can help alleviate feelings of gas and bloating.
On a normal day, an average human expel gasses 14 times a day. This is the current average, but certainly not how it could be. Here are some natural remedies for dealing with this potentially embarrassing problem.
1. Ginger
Either eating fresh ginger or making ginger tea are two of the best solutions to address the gas issue. Adding ginger (dried or fresh) to your meals can be helpful as well, or just taking a teaspoon of grated ginger before starting your meals.
2. Caraway seeds
Caraway seeds can be very helpful in releasing gas and relieving indigestion or cramping. They stimulate proper digestion. Caraway seeds are very helpful to fight gas – especially if added in the meals known to cause gas.
3. Garlic
Using fresh garlic is very beneficial to fight intestinal gasses and bloating. Used raw, cooked, chopped, or in a paste form, it’s equally helpful.
4. Dandelion tea
Use dandelion dry as a spice in meals or drink it as we tea. The flowers of a dandelion are equally helpful in relieving gas symptoms. Dandelion is a common weed which has many other health benefits as well.
5. Parsley
Parsley can be used fresh or as a dried spice. People having kidney and gall bladder issues may want to use other methods forduc gas relief. Apart from gas problem, parsley is helpful to heal joint pains as well.
6. Activated charcoal
Due to great absorption quality of charcoal, this can be helpful in gas relief. If charcoal supplements are taken before eating a food that is known to cause bloating and gas troubles it can help even before the problem starts.
7. Developing healthy meal habits
Avoid foods which cause gas troubles and indigestion. Mostly fried food, processed food, and forms of processed sugar are the common contributors for intestinal gasses and bloating issues.
These are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to natural remedies and healthy habits.
Do also consider the potential of food allergies or other intolerances as well. It’s helpful to check other type of foods in your diet which may be leading to intestinal gasses and bloating.
Try avoiding different foods for few days to determine which ones are giving you troubles. For example: stop consuming milk, wheat products, or high-fat foods.
Some people also have gas issues with beans, cabbage, sprouts, onions, apples, corn, oats, potatoes and dairy products. Any personal food intolerance can cause gas and bloating issues so be sure to rule out all the causes of your discomfort at the same time that you work to alleviate your pain.
