“7 Tricks to Boost Your Memory and Sharpen Your Brain!”

Some people are effortlessly able to remember the most monotonous details or understand a new task quickly. If you’ve ever wished you could do the same, there are strategies you can do to boost your brain power. The following are 7 tricks that will help sharpen your mind.

1. Exercise

Wasting your life away watching endless hours of T.V. isn’t going to improve your memory. It also could be the cause for excessive weight gain. Working out doesn’t just help the body get in tip-top shape, it can also aid in challenging your brain. Being overweight can lead to a series of diseases such as heart, diabetes and stroke. Obesity can also wreak havoc with the brain. As more and more plaque builds up in your arteries, the nutrients and oxygen that feed your brain become compromised. You can heal both your mind and body with simple activities such as walking, dancing and swimming. As you gradually build up your stamina, incorporate other fun movements such as golf, biking and jogging.

2. Fuel Your Brain

Over 60 percent of the weight of the brain is fat. This is done to insulate the many nerve cells taking space in your head. The more insulated, the quicker the messages are sent throughout the body. Although you may have been brought up thinking that fat is bad for you to ingest, certain dietary restrictions can be harmful to the brain. Feeding your brain the right nutrients protects it from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. With the right nutrients, you’ll also notice a boost in health, alertness, memory, and the ability to focus.

3. Eliminate Stress

Stress, anxiety and depression are all emotions that can prove harmful to the brain and lead to memory loss. Because depression raises the cortisol levels in both the bloodstream and brain, prolonged periods can hinder the brains ability to remember things and focus. If you’re experiencing brain fog, look for ways to reduce stress and boost your mood. Yoga, meditation and Pilates are excellent activities to promote positivity. You can also enlist the help of a professional to combat the despondent feelings.

4. Get Enough Sleep

Although you may think you can exist by burning the candle at both ends, your brain won’t thank you. The brain needs plenty of time to restore information it acquired the previous day. You can recharge your brain power by getting at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep. You can also sharpen your mind and recharge your brain’s batteries by taking a nap during the day. Sometimes a quick catnap can be enough to energize your brain’s battery.

5. Keep Notes

Whether it’s for your family life or work, it’s easy to take on a series of responsibilities throughout the day. But if your brain is on overload, you may need assistance in remembering things. Simple tasks such as sending yourself an email, setting notes on your phone or tablet or keeping a journal can boost your brain to memorize and remember information.

6. Play Music

Based on certain studies, research has shown how various songs or melodies can be instrumental in sharpening the mind. Information learned by listening to music may be recalled easier when thinking or playing a song. If you have to memorize something for a class or project at work, put on your favorite tunes to help retain the information.

7. Play Mind Games

If you think you’re too old for games, think again. Activities such as cards, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and word games done on a daily basis keep your brain sharp. They also can help prevent the onset of memory loss diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Your smartphone or tablet will also have a host of gaming apps available to finetune your brain.

Most people experience bouts of forgetfulness. While an occasional case of brain fog isn’t a cause for concern, the above 7 tricks will help challenge your mind. They can also keep the signs of mental aging at bay and boost your brain power.
