Green Living For Newbies: Easy To Apply Tips For Each Area Of Your Life!

When you first start thinking about living green, economical and environmentally friendly, organic lifestyle, you can feel a little lost. It’s easy to believe that you need to have a complete lifestyle change, but a lot of the time, it’s just small adjustments that you need to make.

If you were to transform your life overnight, it might be a lot harder for you to adjust to in the beginning. Instead, a slow, easy to apply transition can be a more efficient way of enjoying the benefits of green living. By implementing the principles to each area of your life, bit by bit, you will be able to adapt well and enjoy living green.

Around The Home

Whenever you want to make a change in life, it’s always best to start small and with something that you can control. Some say it’s best to jump in at the deep end, but if you’re unsure of what you’re doing or how to do it, you’re going to drown. But, if you apply what you know to a small area first, you can test the waters. This is what you should aim to do with your home. Work on saving energy, switching your appliances to those that are energy-efficient, by organic cleaning products, use basic natural ingredients for DIY cleaners, and take baby steps with the things you already have.

In The Kitchen

You can also make a huge change to your lifestyle, without really noticing it, by switching up how you work in the kitchen. When you do the grocery shop, it’s quite likely that you buy the same foods week after week. Now, switch some of the up, like chicken and vegetables, for organic versions. Try to stay away from any processed foods and buy local harvest and real foods when possible.  A small change, a bit impact. You can also work on wasting less to reduce your impact on the environment; whether that means making smaller portions or saving leftovers for another day.

When You Travel

Making a change in your life can often become like clockwork when it’s apart of your daily routine. Whether that means you apply the tweaks and shifts in your lifestyle to just one area of your life, i.e. at home, or to all of them. As you make changes, your everyday life gets used to them. But, as you move out of that daily routine, say, to travel, it can be a lot harder. However, sites like http://www.conservationinstitute.org/, can show you how it’s done when you travel, or provide you with tips on everything from environmentally friendly travel, to eco-accommodation.

At Work

When it comes to work, you can be just as lost as you feel when you travel. Not everything in your job will be under your control. But that doesn’t mean you should lose faith in becoming holistically more conscious about your print. Deciding to print only what is needed and to waste less paper is an excellent start, but you could also volunteer to run your office recycling system, or start one if your company doesn’t recycle yet. Try implementing ways to reduce energy consumption at work.

For Your Health

And then there’s your health – and the health for your family. Just like opting for alternatives when it comes to cleaning your home and cooking, you can find similar when it comes to your health. Instead of heading straight to the doctors or picking up medication, why not work on some home remedies that work a treat but keep you away from chemicals and toxins (a few can be found here – All Natural Ways to Keep Viruses At Bay This Flu Season).
