About Me

Organic 4 Green Livings Healthy Living

Hi,

My name is Marla. I just want to tell you a bit about who I am!

My mission is to educate you and to have a website that will provide recipes and information that will help you make healthier choices and make a safer world for all of us to live in now and for future generations.  I want to help you make the right choices — it’s so important in cleaning products, clothing, cosmetics, air cleaners, filters for our water, vitamins, detoxify items, and cosmetics. I love DIY products and they are so economical.

Since I have suffered from Environment Illness or Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS), for 20 years or more it has given me the first hand knowledge on what chemicals and pollution can do to your health. I know how important is to clean up our environment.

So come join me and read my blog. I promise to give the best information possible.

Just sign up for my e-mail subscription so you don’t miss out!

My story is as unique as every other person that has MCS. There is no specific reasons or  answers. I can’t tell you when, why, or how my immune system broke down and all the intolerance’s to so many chemicals, foods and allergen occurred.  I just know one physical issue lead to another.

There is no easy answer or specific treatment that works to cure you. It just a matter of working at it everyday and trying to be healthy. It starts with cleaning up your environment starting with you house and of making it safe for you and your family! Whether it is getting rid of carpet (which I definitely had to do), getting a good air cleaner, having dust covers on your mattress, using truly natural, organic products and living a green lifestyle.

Eating as healthy as you can which means staying away from processed foods, eating preservative and dye free foods as much as possible, and definitely no GMO’s. Mostly you need to be aware that you body is a temple and you need to treat it as God meant it to be – with the best care you can give it.

I believe with all my heart that so many of the disease we have today have to do with our polluted environment and the chemicals that surround us everyday. We put them in and on our bodies without even realizing how it affects us or other people around us.

Our water has become so polluted from chemical plants and waste that we have dumped in our oceans and rivers.  We use plastics that have toxic chemicals in like BPA (bisphenol A). We have so many scented products that contain chemicals that poison our bodies slowly and make many people sick.  We spray pesticides on our food that contaminate our organs and our foods are polluted with GMO’s that we haven’t yet begun to know the full extent of the damage or dangers that can occur within our bodies or the environment.

From all this pollution and contamination life for some individuals can never be the same.  You also could end up living in an isolated world and never be able to live a  normal functioning lifestyle or even keep a job.

I believe that we can clean up our environment, but it will take time.  Rome was not built-in a day nor can we make our world safe in one day!  Each one of us needs to do our part to make it safe for ourselves, our children, grandchildren and all future generations. We can only do it one day at a time and one step at a time!

    Hi,

I have a quick question about your blog, do you think you could email me?

  4. You know it's worse than I've made out, because our traditions are based around really horrific eating habits, we have pancake day, where we fry our floury mixture in oil, followed by Easter, where we eat loads of chocolate and cakes, then there's summer barbecues where generally men burn the hell out of meat and stick it in bread, we have roast dinners on Sundays and fish and chips on a Friday, a roast on Xmas day, these days if people eat out they either go for a MacDonald or a pub lunch which has been defrosted and microwaves, need I go on! We are in need of some big changes, but like you said, I think it's going to be one step at a time, old habits die hard and a lot of people just can't be bothered to even think about what they do with their lives or sometimes they just don't have the time or means. Stay strong.

  5. Hi Marla,

I have also had sensitivity problems with chemicals and food, going on for years; your story sounds a lot like mine. I' seriously hope we do get this planet cleaned up, water would be a good start as the contamination is seriously hitting our food supply now. What with arsenic in water hence our rice and rocket fuel in our water hence our milk and lettuces.

I found your website as I was searching the web for info on acrylamide, I'm trying to find some comprehensive info, I've found bits of info here and there but not all the info that consumers like us need. The thing about it that makes me really mad is that since acrylamide was found in food in Sweeden, TEN YEARS AGO, the food industry has been protected but the consumers have not, in any shape or form, zilch, absolutely zilch. Well they have in Germany, they were fully informed a few years ago, but not in the UK. A lot of (funding) money has been spent researching ways to reduce acrylamide levels found in products, no money has been spent on informing the public. I feel that we have been seriously let down. It was already a known carcinogen before it was found in food, so how it can now be classified as a probable carcinogen I just don't know. How much acrylamide can a person safely consume? None in my opinion, yet there are still people out their drinking coffee whilst eating burnt toast (just because they quite like the burnt taste) and there are still people out their regularly letting their kids eat food such as crisps/potato chips, pringles and cereals, all of which have been shown to contain really high levels of acrylamide. Bags of frozen chips/fries are found in most peoples freezers in the UK, despite the really high levels that occur when they get cooked. We eat stacks of chocolate in the UK, unaware of the acrylamide content. People are still living their lives totally unaware of the potential dangers of eating, even though food could be just as harmful as smoking if you get the combination wrong. Not only that but people feel they must buy soooooooo many things when in actually fact, you know what, they don't really need them, I feel people should be buying more seeds and less crap. It's madness, and yes I'm really mad! So mad I've made a blog and emailed it to loads of people, and I mean loads! My friends, family, local MP, doctors, surgeons, chiefs such as Jamie Oliver, local catering companies, cafes the list goes on. The more the better. I'm meeting up with the company that supply school meals in our area, as they want to understand more about it, they weren't even aware of it. Anyway, I love what your doing and I hope you don't mind if I add a link through to your site from one of mine. It might be on a new blog I'm planning on doing, or on this one…

Anyway, I'll shut up now, thanks for sharing all this great info, I appreciate it.

    All the best to you…Cindy

    1. Cindy,
I quite agree with you- our food quality has become terrible. I too believe we must do something about it and that is why I am doing this blog. I too have experienced the many health issues our food and our environment can do to our bodies. I see it all around me with the increasing cancer rates and health problems even in children such as AHDD and autism. I would be glad to exchange links or something in that line. Just get back to me on the details. I checked out your blog and you have a lot of good information. Thumbs up! Thank You for reading my blog and your interest. Change can happen but it takes everyone working together. Best Regards and Happy Blogging Marla

  6. Bart, Glad that you found my site informative. I had tried to follow you last week from linked in from the conversation my following fellow members on twitter but I couldn't get your twitter account to come up. I check out your site and your bags are quite attractive. I am thinking about purchasing one myself. I will add you to my blogroll and also include your site on some of my blogs. Best Regards, Marla
