Eco-Friendly Stain Remover Hacks for the Home

When it comes to your clothes, stains are inevitable. At some point, they’ll get dirty — no matter how cautious you are. It happens to the best of us, but we often don’t think twice about how to remove them. Just throw them in the laundry, right? Well, there’s an even faster way to remove most stains, and it can save you a pretty penny and also help you reduce your environmental footprint.

We’re talking about eco-friendly stain remover hacks. You can skip the wash and detergent altogether if you opt to use these greener methods! They vary based on the type of stain, so here are a few of the most common hacks to keep in mind:

Food and Wine Stains

Spilt some food and/or wine on your favorite button up during dinner? No worries! Apply some vinegar to get it out in no time.

Directions: Sponge the stain with white vinegar until it is soaked. Then, simply wash the area with cool water.

Sweat and Yellowing Stains

White materials are especially susceptible to sweat. Clean up that sallow spot by making a homemade paste with baking soda and warm water!

Directions: Mix baking soda with warm water until it forms a paste. Scrub the stained area with the paste and let sit for an hour before rinsing off with warm water.

Dirt Stains

Stained your clothing with some dirt? No problem. You can actually use stale bread to extract the dirt!

Directions: Simply rub the stain with stale bread; the gluten in the bread will actually absorb the filth!
