Ear Candling The Facts And Health Benefits

Today my friends I would like to discuss a very old natural home remedy “Ear Candling” This is a natural ear cleaning technique which began centuries ago and is still practiced.  It can improve conditions such as sinus problems, sore throat, ear ache, swimmer’s ear, sometimes chronic headaches, allergies and hearing difficulty. So if you or any of your family members have any of these conditions I suggest that you continue reading.

Candling is believed to start in Egypt hundreds of years ago. The theory if ear candling is based on the cleaning effects are possible because all passages in the head are interconnected, which allows the candles to drain the entire system osmotically through the membrane of the ear.

Ear candles are made of cotton or linen that’s wound into a cone shape, soaked in wax, some manufactures use beeswax because of the possible therapeutic properties, and then allowed to harden. They can be purchased at homeopathic-remedy shops or a natural food store.

How is it Done?

This hollow waxed cloth candle and lit then place gently it the ear. It is important that the ear candle should be angled so any possible dripping wax should roll down the side of the tube and not drop onto the eardrum itself.  Only one ear can be candled at a time and the person being candled should be positioned always lying down on one ear. The low flame of the candle creates a slow vacuüm which softens and pulls old wax and debris into the base of the candle. The smoke and gentle vacuüm created by the candling process cleans the lymph’s within the ear structure. After the candle has burnt sufficiently you can examine the inside of the candle and see what was in your ear, only 20% of the contain is candle residue.

There is no discomfort to the person receiving the candling and it only takes about 15 minutes for each ear.  It is not advisable to do candling every day because it takes 24 hours for to replace the protective coating of wax inside the ear. A  person with severe pain can be candled 3 times with 2 candles per ear 48 hours apart. Never exceed 4 candles per ear in any one candling session as this could irritate and cause swelling of the ear canal.  With a small child only 1/2 to 1 candle per is recommended. You will see ear wax which will be various tones of yellow, brown or black. The yellow is usually candle wax.

Why is Candling Done?

The internal carotid artery, auditory tube, cochlear nerve, facial nerve, semicircular canal and the first ruron of the cochlea are all located in the area immediately behind the tempanic membranes. All nerves have a thin coating of spinal fluid which can become polluted. The fluid in your body circulates 14 times per day to cleanse itself and the only other mechanical influences on our ears is when we swallow or when we hold our breath.  We need to clear our Eustachian tubes to alter the pressure and if they are irritated they will not drain. This causes a build up of pressure and even when you swallow or if you have if you have anything covering your ears, it only constricts the bones by creating an internal vacuum. The pressure continues to build up, and cannot be released, the body reaches a point of stasis.

The ear canal helps to support the brain, a pivot for the skull.  If these bones are moved just a micro amount such as the thickness of a paper, is all that is needed to make the proper correction. When the bones are properly aligned, the osmotic pressure on the nerves relating to your senses are shifted also.  It is believed that the gentle reverse osmotic pressure of the ear candling is enough to correct this and that is why many times people feel better after ear candling.

Cranial bones can become misaligned for many reasons such as colds, birth trauma, environmental toxicity, wearing hats, earphones, telephones, scarves, and glasses. This affects the osmotic pressure on the nerves which deal with taste, smell, hearing, and sight.  The cochlea is responsible for sound production and is a fluid filled structure located in the ear cavity. The cochlear area and the semicircular canal can become infected and irritated which cause the tiny hairs to be laden with debris, therefore they cannot move freely. The smoke and gentle vacuum from ear candling clears this out so that the functioning is improved.

Your ear can contain infections and fungus especially if you have or had in the past ear problems with infections. This will look like a white flaky powder that may have a yeasty odor (Candida). About 1 – 10% of this white powder is from the residue of the candle. Some laboratory analysis has shown the residue removed by candling consists of earwax, residual of past infections, fungus, bacteria yeast, ear mites, worms, parasite and hair.

I would suggest that if you choose to use ear candling that you go to someone who is familiar with the process and has the knowledge to properly perform the procedure. There is controversy about ear candling as there is about any alternative medical method. I have known a number of people to use ear-candling with great success. You make your own decision to make sure it’s the right treatment for you or your family.
