Alternative Treatments and Why People Choose to Use Them!

There have been huge advances in clinical treatments and medications over the last decades. Admittedly, some of these have been arrived at via trial and error; however, in the US, you can choose from some of the best healthcare treatments in the world, as long as you have the necessary funds at your disposal. Despite this, many people are revisiting some of the tried and tested methods of healing that have been developed over many centuries, on the grounds that these are more in tune with nature and less likely to have uncomfortable or even toxic side effects.

Here are a few useful pointers as to why this is happening.

Your choices:

  • You have the choice to opt for standard treatments to stay healthy; however, you also have a number of other opportunities to explore if you wish. One alternative way to achieve good health, for example, is to get plenty of fresh air and take regular exercise in order to build muscle, stamina, and strength, and to help you lose weight. For many people, this is preferable to simply popping a diet pill that can have dangerous side effects.

  • Another alternative route to good health is to aim to eat wholesome, balanced meals in order to bolster your immune system and ward off diseases. This has also found favor as a more positive approach to maintaining healthful habits, rather than ignoring what is good for your body and then having to seek chemical remedies when you fall ill.

  • Increasing essential vitamins and minerals by using supplements has become a popular approach to maintaining your health. Natural forms of vitamin C and ginseng are thought to be particularly beneficial, and they can be taken in a number of different forms. You can also increase your intake of vitamin C by including citrus fruit, potatoes, and tomatoes in your balanced diet.

  • Many people consider meditation to be a great way to help you to relax, slow your heart rate, and reduce your blood pressure, and so it is often chosen as an alternative to having to take tranquilizers as a calming mechanism.

Alternative treatment systems:

In addition to these treatments, there are a number of alternative holistic medicine systems available today.

They include:

  • Acupuncture
  • Ayurveda
  • Chiropractic
  • Homeopathy
  • Massage
  • Osteopathy
  • Reflexology
  • Traditional Chinese medicine and others.

It is fair to say that these have had mixed responses from professionals who practice clinical medicine, usually on the basis that their beneficial effects are largely unproven in scientific terms.

Having said that, it is certainly the case that some alternative systems have been incorporated into mainstream medicine. The importance of physiotherapy in mainstream healthcare, for example, has highlighted the usefulness of exercising muscles and manipulating joints in ways that are very similar to alternative treatments used by osteopaths and massage technicians.

Eat Well Live Well:

The central, important factors in any treatment system, whether involving standard medicine or an alternative, are taking sufficient physical exercise to keep your body fit and healthy and having a good, well-balanced diet. Exercise in particular can be extremely beneficial as it helps your body to stay strong and also bolsters your stamina, which in turn can fight off illness.

To make the most of your opportunities to exercise well, you have the option to give your body a head start by choosing footwear that gives you support where you need it and clothing that helps you to stay comfortable when you work out. Examples include footwear that provides the properties that you need for your preferred activity and also sportswear and undergarments in a breathable fabric, such as a compression garment. If you are looking for suitable compression gear and you are not sure how it works, check out tops and bottoms that have moisture wicking properties to keep you odor-free, cool, and comfortable when exercising.

Finally, you probably already know that “you are what you eat” and that overdoing the fast food, donuts, and cake is unlikely to form part of a well-balanced diet. Focusing on vegetables and fruit – fresh when possible but canned or frozen when not – will give your immune system a boost. Cutting down on alcohol and caffeine will do you a lot of good, and staying hydrated throughout the day by drinking plenty of water will keep your body in good shape. In the end, a lot of the factors that affect your healthcare choices are a matter of common sense plus that old saying, “all things in moderation.”

Pharma vs Radionics? It should be Pharma and Radionics. One complements the other!

    1. Hi Perlito,
Thank you sharing that with us. Glad you stopped by and commented. Have a healthy, happy & blessed day.

  3. I live in France and many doctors and pharmacists are trained homoeopaths which is not something you would see back in the UK. I use osteopathy for my back and my parents swore by something called radionics to treat their horses as well as herbal medicines. I know the medical world is often split about how effective these treatments are but even if it is just a placebo effect, if it works then that is great. However I do agree that, overall, a healthy lifestyle is your best medicine.

    1. HI Rosie,
I have never heard of radionics but I sure am going to check it out. Yes the medical world is split but they are coming closer together – many people are seeing the dangers of conventional medicine with treating symptoms not the disease and how the pharmaceutical companies are pushing dangerous drugs for profit at least that is what has been happening in the US where I live. A healthy lifestyle sure is the best option. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a healthy, happy & blessed day.
