Homemade Organic Rosewater

Organic Homemade Rose Essential Oil

Roses cleanse, hydrate and are anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and they do all this while providing you with a beautiful scent that can lift your spirits, help sooth sadness in your soul and heal wounds. Roses are a true gift from God.

Roses are one of the most admired and beautiful flowers that God created. They have always been one of my favorite flowers in the garden. Not are they only beautiful but they been hailed for their aroma, beautifying, emotional and psychological effects, and medicinal health benefits of rose essential oil.

Pure essential oil of rose is one of the priciest oils, so why not make your own rose-water?

Rose Water has many health benefits and one of them is it is an excellent base for facial sprays or toners to splash on your face or apply with an organic cotton ball. If you have your own flower garden you probably have a few rose bushes and if not ask a friend or neighbor that has some roses if they wouldn’t mind sharing some of the petals with you.  Make absolutely sure that they are organically grown without pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or other toxic chemicals. You certainly don’t want to be putting toxic chemicals in or on your body.

DIY Homemade Rose Water:

Organic Homemade Rose Essential Oil 2Ingredients:

  • Petals of 3 or 4 fresh, organic roses of 1 cup dried rose petals
  • 2 cups of filtered water

Directions for Fresh rose petals: Place the petals in a glass jar big enough to hold 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil and pour over the petals. Seal the jar tightly with lid, shake the jar gently, and then let the mixture stand over night. Strain the rose-water and squeeze the petals to extract as much liquid as possible.

Directions for Dried petals:  Place the dried petals and water in a saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and let the water cool to room temperature. Strain the rose-water and squeeze the petals to extract as much liquid as possible from the petals.   Store the rose-water in a tightly capped jar or bottle in the fridge.

These recipes are easy to make and making rosewater is just a matter of taking the time to smell the roses or at least use their essential oils to pamper yourself. You don’t need a high-tech lab or an extensive bio-dynamic garden. You just need natural non chemical organic roses or flowers to enjoy nature’s bounty. Did you realize that some of the most sophisticated natural products on the market evolved from homemade formulas. I think there’s a feeling of pride and independence in making your own beauty formulas that is well worth its weight in gold.

This is a great gift to give for any occasion – for a birthday or someone who is ill – it just might lift their spirits and put them on the road to recovery. It certainly will make anyone feel better knowing that you care enough to make them a special gift.

This is a great natural alternative to toxic synthetic fragrances too!
