Spirulina the Superfood For Super Health!

spirulinaHave you ever heard of Spirulina? Well if you haven’t then you need to learn what this superfood is and the many health benefits. Spirulina is a blue-green micro algae that grows in fresh water. Amazing it is one of the oldest life forms on earth and the Aztecs including it in their diet for protein packed nutrition that it added to their diet.

Spirulina can be added to your diet in so many ways such as added it to smoothies, dressings, salads, soups, blends right into smoothies, dressings, soups and any other way you choose if you want to add super powers to your foods. You can even take spiriulina as a supplement in capsule form. However you add spirulina to your diet I would recommend you choose organic spirulina.

Health Benefits of Spirulina

  • Spirulina is packed full of protein. Two tablespoons  of spirulina powder contains 16 grams of high-quality protein. This complete protein provides all 9 essential amino acids, aka the building blocks of protein, your body needs on a daily basis.
  • Spirulina has 9 essential amino acids including the essential fatty acid gamma linolenic acid (GLA) which is known for it anti-inflammatory properties. Creamy Spirulina Smoothie Recipe

 

  • 1/2 cup of fruit (blueberries, strawberries, bananas etc)
  • 1/2 cup of veggies (kale, spinach, etc.)
  • 1/2 cup of raw milk or raw yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of spirulina
