Natural Remedies to Treat Acne: Simpler and Better

Acne is a commonly occurring skin condition which affects 85% of the world population at some point in their lives. The causes of acne may include stress, diet, genetics, infections, and hormonal changes. The conventional treatments for acne can be costly, and they have undesirable side effects such as irritation, redness, and dryness. You don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to cure acne because there are natural remedies that are simple and effective. Let’s explore your options!

Natural Remedies for Acne

Apple Cider Vinegar Application

Apple cider vinegar is a natural product of vinegar fermentation or pressed apples’ unfiltered juice. It is known for its natural antibacterial or anti-inflammatory properties. It contains organic acids, like succinic acid, known to fight the causative microorganisms responsible for causing pimples along with inflammation and scarring. The lactic acid found in apple cider vinegar improves the appearance of acne scars and dries excess oil that causes pimples.

Procedure:

  • Mix apple 1 part cider vinegar and 3 parts water.
  • Using a cotton ball, apply a small amount of this mixture on your skin.
  • Let it sit for 10 to 20 seconds and rinse with water.
  • Do this twice a day

Cinnamon and Honey to Treat Acne

Cinnamon and Honey Facial Mask

As excellent sources of antioxidants, both cinnamon and honey are good for you. The application of antioxidants is more effective in reducing pimples than retinoids and benzoyl peroxide. Cinnamon and honey have natural abilities in fighting the two most common triggers of pimples – bacteria and inflammation.

Procedure:

  • Combine 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder and 2 tablespoons of honey.
  • Mix together to form a paste.
  • Using your hands, apply the paste on your face and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Rinse it off with water.

Natural Remedies for Acne

Tea Tree Oil Spot Treatment

The tea tree, Melaleuca alternifolia, is a small tree that’s native to Australia. Tea tree oil is an extracted essential oil from its leaves. It’s well known to reduce inflammation because of its antibacterial property. Studies show that the application of 5% tea tree oil can reduce pimples significantly after three months of use as compared to 5% benzoyl peroxide.

Procedure:

  • Mix 1 part tea tree oil and 9 parts water.
  • Using Q-tip, apply this mixture gently to your pimples.
  • Repeat the process twice a day and use a moisturizer as desired.

Green Tea Skin Treatment

Green tea is a natural antioxidant, and drinking it promotes good health. The tannins and flavonoids found in green tea help fight bacteria and thus can reduce inflammation when directly applied on the skin. Using 2% to 3% green tea extract can significantly reduce sebum production through its primary antioxidant called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG).

Procedure:

  • Boil green tea in water for about 3 to 5 minutes and let it cool.
  • Apply it on your face using a cotton ball. You can also pour the solution into a clean spray bottle and spritz it on your face.
  • Let it dry and rinse with water.

You can also make a mask by adding honey to the boiled leaves.

Natural Remedies to treat acne

Aloe Vera Moisturizer

Aloe vera produces a clear gel which is a common ingredient of skin care products like creams, lotions, soaps, and ointments. Aloe vera gel effectively heals wounds, fights inflammation, and treats burns. You’ll be surprised knowing that aloe vera has natural sulfur and salicylic acid, both extensively used in pimple treatment.

Scrape aloe vera gel directly from the plant using a spoon and apply it directly to your skin. It acts as an effective moisturizer that can be applied once or twice a day.

Regular Exfoliation

Exfoliation refers to the process of removing dead skin cells found at the top layer. With the use of a scrub or brush, you can exfoliate mechanically. It is believed to improve acne by unclogging pores. Most acne treatments penetrate the skin deeper and thus are more effective when the topmost layer is clean.

Procedure:

  • Mix equal parts of coconut oil and sugar or salt.
  • Gently scrub on the affected surface in gentle circular motion.
  • Rinse thoroughly.

Conclusion

These home remedies help reduce your pimples the natural way. They are affordable and the ingredients are usually found in your kitchen. But of course, don’t forget to set an appointment with your dermatologist, most especially if your acne is not improving or is getting worse. Visit www.veraclinic.net to explore your options.
