There are oodles of ways to keep indoor living spaces healthier. Whether you prefer old-fashioned or more modern methods of keeping your indoors healthy, all it takes is a little homework and elbow grease to feel the freshness a healthy home and indoor space has to offer.
Take a look at 10 Natural ways to keep your indoors healthy and have a healthy home:
The best part is there is something for everyone!
1. Got Kids?
Face it, kids are amazing. So are their messes. Sticky drink spills that attract insects, dust and grime, hidden candy wrappers, dirty tissues and stinky towels line your floors over and over.
Warning: this rarely ends before the age of 18. After congratulating yourself for teaching them how to be helpful by cleaning their own messes, always be prepared with — Plan B. Get a bin. Fill it to the bin-brim with paper towels, a scraper for hidden gum wads, plastic bag for trash, sanitizing wipes and white vinegar. The latter two work wonders for cleaning and disinfecting.
2. Got Dust?
This one is easy. Make sure the air indoors is clean by regularly changing your vent filters. This actually subdues allergenic dirt and dust particles from recycling throughout the home. A new filter once a month is ideal for improving air quality to ensure a healthy home.
3. Got Pets?
Animal fur and dander are a never-ending dilemma that contributes highly to a variety of health problems. One of the easiest ways to tackle this issue is to get a great quality mini-vacuum for quick and easy clean-ups. No more heavy vacuum cleaners to tote everyday – although a weekly upright vacuuming is definitely necessary. Check out the hand-held Teeny, Tiny Tank mini-vacuum. It’s the perfect size and answer for those dust bunnies and fur balls blowing around like little tumbleweeds.
4. Got Radon?
This one is scary. Radon is a highly toxic, odor-free, radioactive gas often found in many homes and apartments. Head to your nearest home-improvement store and purchase a radon test kit to remedy this potential danger. Make sure your home is a healthy home!
5. Got Mold and Mildew?
These two nuisances often hide where there is any amount of dampness and can wreak havoc on our breathing. They can even seep through ceilings and walls from any moisture lurking behind the walls. Check bathroom and kitchen cabinets frequently. If mildew or mold is sighted, immediately wash with white vinegar to kill spores. Do not use bleach. Clean it naturally and green!
6. Got Roaches?
Roaches are gross. Their droppings can affect our breathing. Roaches hate wonderful essential oils like peppermint and cypress. Mix about eight drops of each, plus 1/2 cup of water into a spray bottle and spray away. The fragrance is wonderful, but the bugs hate it.
7. Got a Mouse in the House?
Mice and rats are pesky, disease carrying critters that can chew through almost anything to get inside your home. Make sure to secure any holes. Place pet foods in hefty containers and get a environmentally-friendly professional exterminator in at least once a year to check for further rodent visitations.
8. Got Dirty Screens?
Help keep indoor air cleaner by routinely cleaning outdoor window screens with a water hose. Pollen, dirt and dust molecules cling to the screens compromising air circulation. Remember to wipe down window sills, too.
9. Got White Vinegar?
White vinegar is an amazing, natural home advocate. Use it in laundry, clean and disinfect bathrooms and kitchens, remove hard water stains on glass and fixtures, and so much more.
10. Got No Time?
Keeping your living spaces a healthy home only takes a few minutes a day – not a few hours. Do a little each day and enjoy the fruits of your cleanest labors.

Hi Katy,
Yes I agree but I do have a problem with mice in the winter time when it starts getting cold they get in our house – I use a peppermint packet to deter them and I also use mice traps when I see they have gotten into my pantry. I make sure I keep the mold under control with white vinegar, tea tree oil is also very good. Have a healthy, happy & blessed week.
