Going Green In The Bathroom And Not Just The Color!

Having an eco-friendly house is one of those things many households are now striving for. It is important to take care of the environment as best we can and while we can do our utmost to be eco-friendly generally in our home, there are always ways we can improve things, Renovating our homes can be high priorities, and doing it with an eco-friendly version of the renovation in mind is a great way to help make your home greener. I wanted to share with you some of the ways you can make your bathroom eco-friendly.

going green in your bathroom

Install low flow toilets and showers

If your home is a little older, or you haven’t had any replacements in the bathroom for a while, then the chances are the shower and toilet you are using won’t be as green or eco-friendly as you would like. Toilets and showers waste a lot of water, and so you may want to consider installing low flow options which can help to reduce the waste you are creating. This is when you may want to look into your local best plumber so that you can ensure there are no hiccups with installing these new models into your home. As they are eco-friendly and more modern appliances, you may need to think about replacing other pipe work.

Motion sensor faucets could be the answer

Just like you can waste water in the shower or by flushing the toilet, your taps and faucets can also be big culprits. Leaving the tap running while you brush your teeth or wash your face can also be a big waste of water. So instead, why not replace your current faucets with motion sensor alternatives. This way the water is only released as and when you need it and you don’t have to remember to switch the tap on and off constantly.

Even in the bathroom you could save on energy bills

When it comes to energy saving, you can still apply basic rules and principles just as you would the rest of your home. Lighting can use up a considerable amount of energy if you are not careful, and a bathroom can also have spotlights which can be quite expensive to run. So a good tip would be to replace the bulbs to more energy efficient and eco friendly LED alternatives. Also, remembering to switch the lights off when you are finished is also a habit that you could be applying everywhere else in the home.

Buy eco-friendly and/or natural bathroom products

Finally, make sure that you consider eco-friendly and/or natural bathroom products to use in the bathroom. Sometimes it is about your conscious decisions to make the right choice when it comes to things like this. You can buy great natural bath and soap products these days, and you can even use natural products to clean the bathroom or create your own home made solutions.

I hope that these tips and suggestions help you to stay on track to going green in your bathroom, it isn’t as hard as it may seem to do it.
