How to Detox Your Body Daily with Healthy Choices

detoxing naturallyThere is so much chatter about detoxing and keep our bodies free from pollutants, but it isn’t an easy task when our bodies are constantly being bombarded with toxins from the foods we eat, cleaning products, the environment, and even our clothing. These toxins and chemicals were not intended to be inside our bodies and it is vitally important that we learn to detox our bodies everyday by living a green and healthy lifestyle.

When our bodies become overloaded with toxicity from years of unfit diet and an unhealthy lifestyle; clogging of cells, tissues, organs, and pathways that evidently cause an imbalance physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Crash detox diets seem to get a lot of attention and help to detox, but the results are only temporary. Quick fixes are usually not the best answer. We need to work at it every day by reducing our exposures to a minimum, make sure we are supplying our bodies with essential nutrients it needs to thrive, regular exercise, and just plain living a green and healthy lifestyle.

How you ask? Read on and I will give you some easy steps that could make a very big difference in your health and your family’s health!

Toxins to Avoid:

  • Avoid processed foods that contain GMO’s, additives, synthetic ingredients, artificial dyes and are just plain unnatural foods.
  • Avoid excess sugar and all chemical laden artificial sugar substitutes! Sugar is known as the silent killer. According to the Huffingtion Post and the dangers of excess sugar include heart disease, increase risk of cancer, promotes belly fat, studies has linked to deficiencies in memory and overall cognitive health, toxic to your liver and may shorten your life.
  • Avoid toxic chemical cleaners in your house. Beware of these four words on the label of any products: caution, warning, danger, or poison. That’s a sure sign of toxic chemicals. Be cautious of products that are labeled natural – there are no regulations on “Natural” so make sure you read labels very carefully.
  • Avoid chemically scented sprays, air fresheners, and candles that contain toxic ingredients such as phthalates that can increase your risk of experiencing endocrine, reproductive, and developmental problems and formaldehyde which is a human carcinogen.
  • Avoid toxic skin care products! Steer clear of antibacterial compound – triclosan.  Also beware of phthalates and parabens which are known hormone disruptor, petrochemicals like petrolatum and paraffin clog pores.  Other dangerous ingredients include synthetic colors, fragrances, polymers that are dangerous to your health and to the environment. The skin is the largest organ in the body and what we put on our skin in absorbed into our bodies. Many believe that we pollute our bodies more from what we use on our bodies than what we eat or breathe in.
  • Avoid plastic that contain BPA and other harmful chemicals. Avoid heating food in plastic containers in the microwave – the plastic leached out toxic chemicals into the food.

Healthy Choices:

  • Choose your foods wisely – eat organic and local harvest that are grown without the use of toxic pesticides or fertilizers. Check out EWG’s Clean 15 and dirty dozen site to help you choose wisely .
  •  Choose foods that are help you detox naturally such as blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries,  red currant, broccoli, and green tea. Broccoli boosts enzymes that clear toxins from the blood and are loaded with many healthy nutrients, while green tea supports the liver and helps fat-soluble toxins leave the body. It is also recommended that eating organic or local harvest raw vegetables,  lemon juice, ginger, avocados can help cleanse and promote healthy detoxification.
  • Drink plenty of purified water and get plenty of quality sleep.
  • Choose healthy sugar alternatives.  Organic stevia is one of my favorites, some other very healthy alternatives are raw honey, organic unprocessed natural cane sugar, blackstrap molasses, coconut sugar, date sugar, and even fruit juice.
  • Use natural non-toxic green cleaners such as hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, white vinegar, lemons, or plant-based soaps.
  • Use DIY scented products made from organic essential oils that can be therapeutic to you physically and emotionally.                                                                                                                                                                                                               jar scented essential oils and baking soda1. Take a small glass jar and punch small holes in, add baking soda, and then add just enough of your favorite essential oils to make it moist. Place anywhere in your home for a safe, natural way to give you environment a lovely non-toxic aroma.

  • Use organic cosmetics or make you own natural DIY skincare products.  Raw unrefined organic cold pressed coconut oil is a wonderful moisturizer that I use daily and I cook with it too.
  • I don’t personally like using the microwave because I believe it robs essential nutrients from your food and cause EMF pollution. But if you do use a microwave make sure you use glass containers to heat the food in and use glass to store your leftovers in.

Living a green and healthy lifestyle is a way of life that we have to practice and live daily. It takes work but the rewards you reap will be well worth the effort.  We not only teach our children how to stay healthy, but we are leaving our ecological footprint on our planet that will remain for many generations to come.
