Pesticides Facts, Why Should You Go Organic and Natural

 "Going Organic Naturally"

Pesticides and knowing the facts! Why is organic so important? How to help to reduce your exposure and live green are so important in our world today to ensure a healthier life and environment for all of us. Pesticide’s are all around us and seem to be lurking in every corner, they are on our foods, in our homes, schools, and we breathe them, daily from our surrounding environment.

A New American study published in the ACAAI suggests that those exposed to pesticides are more likely to develop food allergies.

  • Dr Elina Jeschow, author of this scientific study also claims that food allergies and environmental allergies are increasing significantly in the US.
  • According to Dr. Jeschow and quoted “Our research shows that high levels of dichlorophenol-containing pesticides can possibly weaken food tolerance in some people, causing food allergy.
  • Dichlorophenol is a chemical used in pesticides and weedkillers and is present in chlorinated drinking water or more specifically normal tap water.

Organic Foods and Facts about Pesticides:

Consuming organic food is one the safest ways to improve one’s nutrient intake and help to have a healthier body!

It is regularly claimed by the mainstream (non-organic) food industry that pesticide residues in foods are known to be safe. This is based on total diet surveys that supposedly find the levels of pesticide residues to be very low and with acceptable safety limits.

Most pesticide-residue safety levels are set for individual pesticides, but many samples of fresh produce carry multiple pesticides residues. These rules do not take into account what is considered the “cocktail effect” of combinations of pesticides in and on foods. Put in layman terms testing is done one pesticide at time and not combining the many other pesticide that are on one piece of produce, therefore not giving you the true levels of pesticides on foods!

Research is consistently emerging confirming the potential for such synergistic increases in toxicity up to 100-fold, resulting in reproductive, immune and nervous system effects not expected from the individual compounds (pesticides) acting alone.

Monitoring programs consistently show that around 1 in 3 non-organic food samples tested contains a variety or pesticides residue with far lower levels being found in and on organic foods.

Organic foods provide a variety of benefits. Some studies show that organic foods have more beneficial nutrients, such as antioxidants, than their conventionally grown counterparts.

Conventional-food proponents also claim that rigorous safety assessments show that pesticide residues are no threat to human health. Yet there is so much evidence that proves their claims are false and most consumer intuitively know that this is just plain hog-wash!
