DIY Eco-friendly Floral Christmas Decor
Looking for a creative and eco friendly way to decorate your Christmas tree? These DIY floral Christmas trees are the answer to your prayers. The trees are actually potted tree-shaped herb bushes decorated with fresh flower garland, so no need to throw them out after the New Year because you can trim them into a new shape and use them for cooking year round.
Don’t let bouquets or centerpieces go to waste, up-cycle the flowers into the beautiful garland. When the fresh flowers dry out, they give the tree a cool vintage look. If you prefer the fresh look or have allergies, reusable faux flowers will work just as well!
When picking your flowers think of the size of your tree and the color palette that you want to use. This project would look great on a full size tree, you would just have to pick out some larger statement flowers that will stand out from a distance. Of course, you’ll want to include smaller accent flowers to balance the larger flowers. As far as colors go, you could go classic glam using beautiful red flowers or more bohemian and use untraditional Christmas colors like bright blue, pink or purples.

This is an excellent post – and I just happen to have the perfect Rosemary Shrub to do it with! I’m not much when it comes to floral arrangements (just ask the ladies of my old Garden Club!) – but this post with step-by-step instructions shows me I could actually do this. These are beautiful! This would be a fun craft to start preparing for in the summer when I have flowers blooming in the garden! I can just imagine a tree covered in dried calendula, allium, and other dried summer flowers. Thanks for sharing such a great idea!

These little Christmas trees are so darling! I have had a Rosemary tree, a Dwarf Alberta Spruce tree, and a Cedar tree in the past, but didn’t have a lot of luck with keeping them alive for long. I would like to try one again. 🙂 Thanks for the ideas!
