What We Need to Know About GMO Health & Environment Risk

"GMO & What You Need to Know"

Genetically Modified Organisms what are they, what are dangers, and some important information you need to know. The World Health Organization defines GMO’s defines as  “organisms in which the genetic material (DNA) has been altered in such a way that does not occur naturally. GMO’s “can also be called “genetic engineering”, “biotechnology” or “recombinant DNA technology” and consists of randomly inserting genetic fragments (usually from another species) of DNA from one organism to another.

I would like to share so important information about GMO’s, and vital research about the dangers to our health and environment.

Howard Vlieger began studying GMO crops in 1994 and is fortunate to work with some of the lead scientists in the world on research projects involving GMO crops. The real-life experience that he has from being a farmer and working with farmers all across the US gives him a unique perspective on GMOs. Howard has been giving presentations to educate people about GMOs for more than 6 years in 13 states.Howard serves on the board of directors for the Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance (FARFA) and the Food Freedom Foundation. Howard Vlieger and his organization Verity Farms have been researching the affects of genetically engineered crops on the soil, animals and humans since 1992. What they have learned and see every day in 2012 is beyond spooky and is important that you read these results.

3 Top Issues with GM crops:

1.  The ecology of the soil.

2. The immune disorders and digestive disruption such as leaky gut, celiac disease, food allergies.

3. Super weeds requiring more and more glyphosates.

Other Vital Concerns:

  • The gut ecology is impaired when animals and humans consume GM organisms, at one tenth of a part per million
  • The birds and the bees are affected
  • The story behind Roundup Ready Alfalfa, and it’s not pretty
  • Plain and simple the foreign proteins with GMO’s are not digestible
  • The Germans and 50 other European countries do not allow GMO’s
  • In 2010, 170 million acres of corn and soy were planted that were 92% GMO’s
  • Big Profit from the Big Agriculture Companies who get about 9 Billion Dollars per year in user fees alone from farmers using GMO seeds.
  • Very little research has been done on the safety of GM foods, so it is really not possible to determine its risks to the human and animal life.
  •  Unlike the others, GM crops persist in the environment, and may continue to pose risks to health for centuries.

Fortunately farmers and consumers are more aware everyday of the dangers of GMO crops in the US and around the world.

What can we do to protect ourselves:

  • A strong immune system
  • Eating local harvest and Organic foods
  • Start you our own garden
  • Check labels and keep educated
  • Do not buy processed foods

Yes, it is confusing to know what safe, what you should or should not be buying or your family, and what foods not genetically modified so I have provide with a link to help you understand know which products are safe and free for GMO’s —  www.nongmoshoppingguide.com/shopping-guide.html

Fortunately farmers and consumers are more aware everyday of the dangers of GMO crops in the US and around the world.  GMO are not proven to be safe and much evidence has emerged to alert us of the many dangers lurking in GMO production. Don’t hide you head in the sand because you think our government will protect us. Greed and big corporations such as Monsanto have many government ties that continue to allow them to produce GMO crops and foods.

We were promised labeling of our food in 2008 and it still has not happened. The election in California for labeling of all GMO’s foods did not pass but this law— Proposition 37 some believe is contacted to fraudulent voting and much controversy is still hanging on all the details of the election.

So my friends do not give up hope for a better and safer world because I believe that through it all the majority of the public want safe, healthy foods, a safer non-toxic environment and the good of Men will prevail.

Quote of the Day: “Go to the farmers’ market and buy food there. You’ll get something that’s delicious. It’s discouraging that this seems like such an elitist thing. It’s not. It’s just that we have to pay the real cost of food. People have to understand that cheap food has been subsidized. We have to realize that it’s important to pay farmers up front, because they are taking care of the land.” ~ Alice Waters
