10 Shortcuts for Moisturized and Young Skin in Record Time

Antioxidants are your best friends! Many dermatologists believe that the major antioxidants (vitamin A, C, and E) can help decrease the risk of sun and other environmental damage such as cigarette smoke, air pollution and sunlight. Foods that contain these antioxidants are good for your skin.

Antioxidants are man-made or natural substances that prevent or delay some types of cell damage and are very important not only for skin health, but for stability of our immune system. They are found in many foods, including fruits and vegetables, but are available as dietary supplements as well.

When you are healthy and have a stable immune system it’s always visible on your skin. Not only will your skin look fresh, but it will have a young glow and become wrinkle-free.

Foods that are good for the Skin:

  • Carrots, Pumpkin, Sweet Potatoes
Getting your carotenoids from foods is your safest bet, because you’re far more likely to get too much vitamin A from supplements than from foods rich in carotenoids. Top food sources of vitamin A include carrots, pumpkin, sweet potatoes and tomato juice.
  • Fruits
Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant, but only in its active form — the same form you get from food. Of course, including vitamin-C rich fruits and vegetables in your daily diet is a good thing to be doing for your health, anyway. Top food sources of vitamin C include orange juice, grapefruit, papayas, strawberries and kiwis.
  • Nuts
More research is under way on the possible benefits of vitamin E as an ingredient in products that you rub on the skin, but for now it seems to benefit the skin most as a skin conditioner. Food sources of vitamin E include all kinds of nuts, but it’s difficult to get much of this vitamin from foods, so many people take a supplement.

  • Olive Oil
Studies have shown that olive oil is not only an effective moisturizer, but that it also can reduce the symptoms of skin conditions like dermatitis and eczema. It can even help reduce inflammation and heal burns.
  • Fish Oil
Omega-3 fatty acids are good for skin health, too. The omega-3s from fish oil may help to guard against sun damage and make your skin very soft. Also, if you increase your intake of foods high in omega-3s you will improve your general health.

  • Eggs
Eggs are very high in omega-3 and can significantly help if you use it as a mask for your face and neck.
  • Almond Oil
Top food sources of monounsaturated fats include olive oil, almond oil and hazelnut oil. These compounds act as exfoliants on the skin, breaking apart and removing dry, dead skin cells so fresher, younger, moister ones can be produced.
  • Honey
Aside from being delicious to eat, honey has some pretty appetizing benefits for your skin. It’s a natural humectant, which means that it has the ability to draw water molecules from the air toward your skin, helping to keep it moisture-rich.
  • Avocado
The next time you’re whipping up a batch of guacamole for a party, be sure to keep some pureed avocados on the side because it is very good for the skin. Check out this DIY natural skincare honey avocado masque!

  • Shea Butter
Shea butter is rich in vitamin A, which functions similarly to the natural fats found in the skin’s upper layers. The vitamin not only helps alleviate dry skin, but can ease eczema, dermatitis, sunburn and insect bites.

Due to our busy lifestyles sometimes we do not have enough time to take in all those healthy foods so that we have good skin health. It’s a good option to have some supplements in stock all the times and the easiest way to do that is to find your favorite online vitamin shop. This way you can rest assure that your skin is taken care of even when you don’t have the perfect nutritional day.
